Primary academic interest revolves around sustainable environmental and cultural
effects of tourism in developing economies.
Sustainable rural tourism development
Previous work in the area of environmental impacts of hotels and other tourist
developments on small island communities, and water issues. Also as a tourism
NGO.
Implications of sustainable rural tourism for indigenous communities.
Sustainable resource management, environmental risk assessment and tourism as a
means of community revitalisation.
Broader issues of the effects of tourism on gender roles, women, families and
children.
Social policy and project decision-making within the
ecological and economic sphere.
Rosemary holds an MSc in Leisure, Tourism and the Environment (1998).
Previously Rosemary has worked as a University Lecturer 'Anthropology of
Tourism' and for tourism NGO.
Educational establishments include John Ruskin University, Cambridge, UK. Stanta
Clara University, Cuba. Cranfield University, UK. The University of the West of
England.
Areas of specialisation include: A critical enquiry of Eco-Tourism in a
Developing Nation. Incorporating appropriate eco-development cultural and
resource management strategies.
